The Up-Turn

@TheUpTurnMusic /

If you read what I wrote about Bobby Womack’s single, “Please Forgive My Heart” off of his upcoming album The Bravest Man In The Universe, you know that I have already been really excited for this album.  Now, XL Records has just released this mini-documentary showing the making of the LP and I’m more excited than ever.  Its one thing for the music on an LP to be good (which I’m almost positive it will be), but most truly great albums are released in some type of interesting context, and this documentary shows the context of Bobby Womack’s current position in his life.  It’s truly incredible to see Bobby Womack pick up a guitar for the first time in 20 years and feel so comfortable playing and singing over fairly harsh electronic back up instrumentation with people 30 and 40 years younger than him.  I hate building up this much anticipation for an album, but no one else on the internets seems to be doing so enough and I genuinely can’t help myself, so just prepare yourselves to listen in June.
