The Up-Turn

I love everything about this video.  This 6 and a half minute long video follows the surreal adventures of a geeky teenage kid, an old man dying of thirst in a desert and finally ends up following the journey of a flying whale.  Although the video leaves me with more questions than answers it is so well done that I can’t help but continue to be mesmerized by the video.  From the hazy opening shots of 80s style beautiful women to the dark ocean ending, the video is a ride that not only fits the great mood of the music but also stands on its own as a great clip.  Destroyer’s “acid-jazz” inspired album is set to release on Jan. 28th and after hearing Kaputt and Chinatown I can’t wait to hear the full-length.  Bejar has discovered some amazing combination of hazy production and jazz infusion that sounds incredibly unique and fully thought out.  I can’t wait to be able to dive into the rest of the album, which will certainly be amazing.
